RE: Cargo Bay

Depends on your needs. The ones that go all the way across are found on raised rail chassis on DPs. I fulltime and carry guns in long cases so I need the full width type.

RE: Record Profits

Last year Wal-Mart had $276 billion in sales with $10 billion in profit - 3.6% Last year Exxon had $272 billion in sales and $40 billion in profit - 14.7% If there was true competition, some oil company would be willing to make 5% profit in order to increase sales. So it sure looks like price fixing to me. Isn't that illegal?

Record Profits

Exxon/Mobil just announced their PROFITS for the first quarter - $10.89 BILLION. Wal-Mart had more revenue than Exxon last year but it took nearly a full year before Wal-Mart had that much profit. I don't buy any fuel from Exxon - that I'm aware of - ever. And I realize that Exxon refineries will still sell to independents. But if those that buy from Exxon would buy somewhere else during the month of May, I think it might send a message. Let's boycott Exxon/Mobil for the month of May. Anyone that visits other forums, please post there.

RE: North Carolina????????

Cliffs of the Neuse State Park has designated dry camping sites - no electric, no water, no sewer.

RE: Ajo az BLM camping

I can add that if you have Verizon cell service, it is an extended area and air cards will NOT work for internet. I was just south of the copper mine tailings for a few days in late Jan. While out on my ATV, I shot a Coyote (four legged variety) that had been feeding on crackers from an abandoned backpack. There was evidence of illegals all over the place - so a word to the wise is sufficient.

RE: Fulltiming is a bad idea because

Fulltiming is bad because: We don't know where we will be next week or even where we will stop for the night.

RE: When did other than boondocking become the default setting?

Big Katuna, I guess that is why we don't visit Florida or go to races. :B

RE: When did other than boondocking become the default setting?

Big Katuna, Why would you run your generator 24 hours a day? We do a mixture of boondocking, dry camping, and RV park squatting. FHUs are sure convenient but I don't care to have an RV on each side of me a mere 20 feet away. The mixture is how DW and I compromise.

RE: state of residency, changing it a lot?

Thanks, Pete D. And Arizona law reads very close to Florida's law. And I believe its Wyoming that requires construction workers to get a WY DL even though their residence is in another state. My original post said "You MAY not have a choice. SOME states...." I wish people would take the time to READ before disputing someone's statement.

RE: state of residency, changing it a lot?

You may not have a choice. Some states require that the moment you are employed in their state, you must get your DL and register your vehicles in that state.

RE: Vail Arizona

A permt or a hunting license. If you are hunting you can legally camp. Crazy law, huh?

RE: Calgon in fresh tank?

WOW. Well, I guess I asked a dumb question - and got a good education. I was referring to the Calgon that is used to soften bath water. But after reading all the posts, I have concluded it is a bad idea to add anything to the fresh water in the fresh water tank. The portable softeners are a good idea but we dry camp about half the time. So I would need to add the unit at the point in the plumbing system where the fresh water tank and the city inlet are common (tied together).

RE: Generator auto-start recommendation?

westernstar, I didn't say the unit was dumb. I said it wasn't smart enough. And I will stand by that statement. I have talked to Magnum and they agree with me. There is a delay but it is only for about 20 seconds. Run your hair dryer for about 2 minutes when your 'at rest' voltage is 12.2 VDC and see what happens. To really work well, the unit would need to monitor a combination of volts and amps drawn. And that simply would be cost prohibitive for what it was intended to do. And too complicated for the average RVer. I like having the AGS unit and I might use it on occasion. But since I live in my MH and have the Tri-metric, I'll start my gen manually. Slightly off subject. Westernstar, does your genny charge your chassis batteries? I understand what you are saying about starting your genny with batteries you want to charge. But I think the manufacturers wired the gen start the way they did for a reason. PM me with a phone number if you want to discuss it. Cheers.

RE: Softened water in your fulltime rig?

Thanks, I didn't realize such a thing existed. But we would like to have soft water while boondocking. I wonder if it could be plumbed into the fresh tank outlet?

Softened water in your fulltime rig?

We had softened water for our showers in our S & B house and we sure miss it in our fulltime rig. Anybody know how we can get the soft water back for our showers?

RE: Calgon in fresh tank?

BTW, DianneOK, I think it is a fulltiming subject since we take ALL our showers in our fulltime rig and would like to have softened water. I wanted to hear from other fulltimers that might have the same wants and that is why I posted there.
